PARALYMPIC
SPECIALIST
TIM HAS BEEN GREAT TO ENGAGE ON A NUMBER OF ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS.
"He brings a real passion and understanding of Paralympic Sport and has the ability to look at things differently. He brings creative ideas to the table and the energy to deliver quality. This has led to the projects having real impact on the development of the athletes and coaches."

CRAIG NICHOLSON
Head of Para-Swimming // International Paralympic Committee
Formerly Performance Pathway Manager at British Para-Swimming
HOW IT BEGAN
Tim has a long history in disability sport. After dislocating his hip aged 11, he spent 3 months in a wheelchair during his rehabilitation. This had a profound effect on him and he has had a passion for disability sport ever since.
The first high-performance athlete Tim worked with as a strength and conditioning coach was double leg amputee, Richard Whitehead. In 2009 and fresh out of a strength and conditioning internship, Tim teamed up with Richard to help improve his marathon performance, which at the time was 2 hours 57 minutes.
2 years later Richard completed the Boston Marathon in 2 hours 42 minutes and to this day remains the world record holder.
SKIN IN THE GAME
Since then Tim has become a proud and seasoned Payalympic specialist gaining experience through three Paralympic cycles and across multiple sports.

LONDON 2012

In 2010, in addition to supporting Richard to win the T42 200m at London 2012, Tim also coached Paralympic Swimmers Ollie Hynd (S8) and Charlotte Henshaw (SB6), and track sprinter Libby Clegg (T12).

RIO 2016

Success at London 2012 was a springboard for the Rio 2016 cycle where Tim supported many other individuals with the athlete-centred business and team, oneathlete. He was recruited in 2015 to lead the British Para-Swimming physical preparation into the Games itself.
Tim was honoured to be selected by ParalympicsGB to lead the strength and conditioning planning and delivery at the Belo Horizonte preparation camp ahead of the Rio Games. He was also part of the British Para-Swimming team where he provided race preparation support for the 10-day competition itself.
TOKYO 2021

As attention turned to Tokyo, Tim's consultancy work has evolved and he has become a central part of the British Para-Swimming team with more of his time focused on developing the high-performance system and the support it provides to athletes.

RESEARCH

In 2015, Tim completed a Masters of Research with a specific focus on the effect of heat on range of motion in athletes with cerebral palsy. He was awarded an 'Exceptional Distinction' for the final project.
